PARENTS COMPUTER & TECHNOLOGY TRAINING

The Covid-19 crisis has forced education systems world-wide to find alternatives to face-to-face instructions. As a result, online teaching and learning have been used by teachers and students on an unprecedented scale (Online Regis College, 2020).

Parents, alongside teachers, play an important and very necessary role in helping students to develop crucial academic skills and a solid educational foundation.

In today’s educational environment, technology has extended learning beyond the traditional classroom. Additionally, it has magnified the increasing demand for parents to understand current technology. As such, plans to assist parents should include practices aimed at (designed to) reducing the burden of parents while helping teachers successfully advance and complete student learning in a technology-based educational system.

Vision and Partnership Groups has a clear understanding that students’ success in a technology-based learning environment often hinges on their parents’ understanding “about the use of digital resources for pedagogical practice” in schools today (OECD Policy Responses, 2020). Our goal is to empower and assist parents with helping their student become successful in this technology-driven learning environment. In doing so, we help and encourage parents to become more actively involved in their students’ technology-driven educational experience by offering free computer classes to parents while also offering parents helpful tips on how to ‘safety prove’ their students’ online learning environment.
