Project Readiness is an eight (8) week integrated program designed to prevent “Learning Loss” during the summer months. This exciting program uniquely combines literacy, academic enrichment and recreational services to deliver a curriculum that best addresses Summer Learning Loss for youth ages 6 to 11 years old. Project Readiness emphasizes the continuity in learning; keeping youth connected to an educational setting during the summer months – in a safe, fun-filled and drug free environment. This innovative program offers youth participants a curriculum that emphasizes reading readiness while also providing quality enrichment and academic services in several other subject areas. Additionally, Project Readiness addresses other warranted concerns that impact Summer Learning Loss by providing supervision to ‘out-of-school’ youth; functioning as care provider for parents who must continue to work during the summer months.

Youth will receive a variety of services:

  • The Essential Components of Reading and Guided Core Academic Instructions
  • Literacy and Enrichment Workshops; Comprehension and Vocabulary
  • Journaling/Reading for Pleasure Centers
  • Summer Core Math Curriculum – with iReady to assist teachers with better meeting the specific academic needs of each participating youth.
  • STEM Project – Creative, Problem Solving & Discovery Learning, Team Projects.
  • One-on-One Centers (In-Program Tutorial Support for Reading, Language Arts & Math)
  • Civic-Community Outreach Activities
  • Daily Recreational Activities
  • Weekly Off-Site Excursions (Field Trips)
